Nemiah Valley is located approximately 196.8 km North West of Williams Lake. It is the home of the Tsilhqot'in people of the Xeni Gwet'in. This Community fishes for salmon and trout within the lakes of Chilko, Taseko, and Tatlayoko. Berries, Wild Potatoes, and medicinal plants is gathered in our Mountain terrain and traditional area.
The people of Xeni are strong in their culture and traditional ways. They live off the land and they speak their language fluently. A large array of wild animals live within the mountains such as moose, deer, bears (grizzly and black), cougars, mountain lions and wild horses to name a few. Various non-timber forest products sustain the community members in medicinal purposes and for sustenance.
The current population in Nemiah Valley is approximately 203 people. Of the total population there are 31 Elders in Nemiah Valley (Xeni) .
