events - youth wagon trip

The Annual Youth Wagon Trip consists of volunteer members who are local individuals from the Xeni Gwet’ in First Nations Government. They have meetings to coordinate and to arrange fund raising activities to continue its annual trip for the Youth.

We welcome you to join us on one of our Annual Youth Wagon/horseback trip from Xeni to Williams Lake. This trip takes place a week before the Williams Lake Stampede, in which it is during the Canada Day weekend. It will be a most unique vacation you have ever experienced. This trip is an authentic re-creation of the pioneer covered wagon trains of the early pioneer days; you will travel through the most scenic areas in Western Chilcotin and experience the thrill of reliving its great history.

The purpose of this trip will allow the Youth to learn horsemanship, legends through storytelling, and to gain their culture through hands on experience.

The wagons are pulled by gentle teams of strong and healthy horses and driven and owned by the Mulvahill ranchers.  You may experience a wagon ride or you may ride your horse part of the day on guided trail rides exploring the surrounding wilderness of Chilcotin territory.

This trip will allow you to slow down and enjoy the view. Come discover the old West. You might just discover yourself in the meantime.

The Annual Youth Wagon Trip:

- all participants will be accomodated with three meals per day;
- camp out every night through the trip.

* Please be advised that you will be given a list of what to bring on this trip and to sign a waiver form before beginning the trip.
